Restaurant Inventory Management with Heartland POS and MarketMan

Heartland is the all-inclusive point-of-sale system for restaurants, loaded with features to streamline your business. The cloud-based system allows you to access important information, even when the internet is down. Plus, it even supports EMV and contactless payments. Its unlocked processing system works independently from your payment processor, allowing for quick integrations and easy switches if you decide to change your hardware. By connecting Heartland POS with MarketMan, the leading restaurant inventory management software, you can integrate all of your invoicing, ordering, and inventory with real-time data directly from your POS.

How does Heartland POS work with Marketman?

MarketMan and Heartland integrate seamlessly via an API that tracks menu items sold concurrently with inventory items used. Each menu item in the Heartland Restaurant POS system is mapped to MarketMan, so ingredient-by-ingredient recipes get calculated for food costing purposes. Plus, every time a sale is made by the POS, MarketMan automatically depletes inventory levels to trigger reorder reminders and low stock alerts. Combining Heartland with MarketMan ensures every sale, substitution, and modification is accurately logged and deleted from your inventory. Already use Heartland POS? Let your account manager know you use Heartland, and we'll set everything up for you!

How does POS data work in MarketMan?

MarketMan is an inventory management platform that instantly tracks every item used in your inventory and depletes individual ingredients whenever a sale is recorded. So, when guests order using a Heartland self-checkout Kiosk, uses Heartland Scan to Pay on their smartphone, or has their order taken by a server, MarketMan automatically pulls that data from Heartland POS and depletes it from your stock.

What about modifiers and substitutions?

MarketMan's detailed ingredient-level tracking accurately reports modifiers and substitutions in the system. If a guest orders a shrimp taco with extra avocado and no chipotle mayo, those ingredients deplete, along with the others used for the original recipe. This data is helpful for profitability reports and sales forecasting since you can see which modifiers are popular.

Can MarketMan manage ordering and procurement?

MarketMan allows you to automate inventory invoicing and ordering while also letting you set par levels and low stock alerts to trigger auto-ordering whenever levels dip below a certain threshold. Heartland's POS sales data leveraged with MarketMan's inventory information saves you hours of counting, lets you make the most out of your stock, and prevents under or over-ordering.

What's unique about Heartland POS inventory management through MarketMan?

MarketMan and Heartland work together to deliver a comprehensive look into your inventory costs and sales to save you time and money. Using the accurate sales data from Heartland's POS, MarketMan's reporting function guides you through making informed decisions about the cost of goods sold, waste and theft reduction, and pricing.

How does the Heartland POS integration inform menu pricing?

Inventory tracking and live sales data show sales performance for each item on your menu and their ingredients relative to their costs. If a hot chicken sandwich with added bacon is selling at a higher rate, MarketMan can illustrate the ideal price relative to your cost of goods sold. If guests order particular dishes or modifications frequently, you can change your menu to give the customer more of what they want while removing the guesswork.

Does MarketMan offer perpetual inventory tracking?

MarketMan is a cloud-based platform, so it delivers perpetual inventory tracking that siphons real-time data from Heartland's POS. Perpetual inventory tracking allows you to adapt to daily challenges and get ahead of droughts, rushes, and waste. With MarketMan and Heartland POS, you'll never be caught off guard when the benedict special sells out before the end of brunch.

What kind of reports can MarketMan run with Heartland POS data?

MarketMan's reporting suite uses sales data from Heartland's POS to give you in-depth reports on menu pricing, food costs, profitability (actual and theoretical), Cost of Goods Sold, theft, and waste. Plus, since MarketMan integrates with popular accounting software products like Quickbooks, you can easily integrate this data with your bookkeeping or accounting department. MarketMan and Heartland can provide you with all the reports, data, and flexibility you need to scale your business and succeed.

I am most happy that the price of an ingredient carries through all functions from ordering, receiving invoices and payment, recipe costing, and inventory. The accuracy of this data has been a huge time-saver for the restaurant group, and we have a better idea of how profitable we are day-to day.”
